The Effects of Translation as a Pedagogical Tool in Teaching Non-english Majored Students

Although teaching and learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL) has reached the post-method era, which means no single method is considered best way of teaching, use translation first language (L1) instruction remain much avoided element in many classrooms. Nevertheless, current studies Vietnam have shown that both teachers students are supportive of, or at least not against idea moderately using L1 EFL classes. This study aims further exploring effectiveness pedagogic tool an class for Vietnamese non-English majored students. After comparing students’ performance after through other methods with L1, it seems who were taught tasks able to items vocabulary structures they just learned more frequently precisely. It was also discovered act translating only provided opportunities but enabled teacher monitor progress closely. Despite being preliminary work, this hopes contribute evidence supporting part multi-section lesson EFL.
